Countdown...

~*~
The countdown is on for my annual birthday tradition. Several years ago I got one of my favorite movies for my birthday... White Christmas! I began watching it it nearly everyday. Yes, everyday! In the morning while I'm getting ready for the day and have heard the daily news repeated, I put a movie on for the remainder of the morning. When my children were REALLY small, they enjoyed watching this movie too because all the singing and dancing kept them captivated! So began the tradition... it's still a few days until my birthday but I thought I'd share these lovely pictures with you all to get you in the holiday spirit!
Enjoy!

The Great Pumpkin

~*~
We recently took the kids to our local farmers fruit stand to get a pumpkin!
They also have a working farm and tree lot during the holidays.

Ready, Set... Go!

First, we stopped by Mr. Spud for good luck in our search for the Great Pumpkin!
Sorry, not quite big enough.
Darling little sign posted among the vegetables!
Look Mom, a Scare Crow!

Look kids, more Scare Crows!
As we walked on the property they had a darling little General Store. I could have bought it all up but instead my wallet said... I'll take 4 bottles of water please!

As we walked around the General Store, we were greeted with this! There were 2 Turkeys and both of them were proudly puffed up in full promonade! The kids were amazed! Quite frankly, this city girl was too!
See you next month! Eh- humm!

A young horse near by and she was a beauty! And her name was BELLE!

Ooooooh, a good old fashioned Coffee Pot. Mmmm, that sounds good right now!
Next up was a bee demonstration!
I've read that you should buy local honey if you have seasonal allergies as it seems to help adjust your body to the pollen or something along those lines. We had just finished up our old bottle and decided to get a new one from a local grower. When held up to the light, it had a beautiful golden clear glow! Yumm!

Next we saw an educational area about local Indians and Teepee's made from corn stalks.
What's it like inside Son? His reply.... HOT Mom!

Oooooh, Lookie Here! A barn! What's inside? A Hoe-Down! Let's go in!
We sang traditional songs too! It was really fun!

To go out with a bang, the kids from the audience were invited to join the stage for a song! My girl is holding a improvised shaker! (A ketcup bottle filled with corn kernals)
After we left the Hoe-Down, we were invited to make our own cornmeal to feed the chickens!

For $1.00, there were talented ladies nearby who offered Face Painting!

For a minute, I thought my Dad had made a surprise appearance in the Gazebo because we heard some good old fashioned country music from this Gentleman!

Well, kids are you ready to begin our search for the Great Pumpkin? YES!! Well let's get started! So off we went through the corn field maze!

Mom, I think I see something crawling in the corn? Yikes! Maybe it's a Scare Crow?
Nah, just an adorable kitten!

At last, we reached the pumpkin field! The farmers terms are easy, if you can carry it, you can have it! Umm, sorry Son, we're going to have to leave those behind.
Okay, now this is more like it!
Victory! We found our Perfect Pumpkin!
This has been a fun day! Good Bye Smith Family Farm! See you next year!

Ya know, my birthday is just a couple of weeks away now, so if your needing any gift ideas, (hint hint....) take up the collection can for my 40th birthday!
PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE!

Blogger news

Did you all read the latest news about our blogger comments? I confess I usually don't read the Daily Buzz but this one caught my attention! And it's a good change too that makes it very easy to leave comments now. Once you get the hang of it, I think you'll love it too! Go ahead and try it below!

Here is the news...

Blogger is bringing the embedded comment form out of Blogger in draft and making it easily available to everyone. This feature puts the comment form at the bottom of each post page, below the comments, instead of on the separate, Blogger-styled page!

The embedded comment form is more convenient for your readers because they can use it to post a comment immediately, without clicking over to a different page. It also looks better, since it matches your blog’s style and colors.

To enable the embedded comment form for your blog, go to the Settings Tab.

Choose Comments page and look for the Comment Form Placement setting.

Change it to Embedded below post, save your settings, and go check out a post to see the new form in action.

The embedded comment form works on both Classic and Layouts templates, though if you’re using a heavily-customized Layouts template you may need to reset your widget templates before the embedded comment form will appear.

We think that the embedded comment form is a big improvement, so we’ve made it the default setting for all new blogs. Happy commenting!

There you go!
